Dialogue with Youth - Seeing and Seizing Opportunities
MAN Ferrostaal shows ways for vocational beginners
14.02.2006 -
On 14 February, students of the upper level of the Gymnasium had for the second time the opportunity of interviewing Dr. Matthias Mitscherlich, Chairman of the Management Board of MAN Ferrostaal AG and Managing Director of MAN AG, on vocational and private subjects. In addition to information provided on the person himself, the students from Bochum also got an insight into the Company. The series of events &ldquoDialogue with Youth” is organised annually by the initiative Ruhr.
The aim of the event was to give the students insights into economic contexts and to inform them about the prerequisites and development possibilities for occupations in a company like MAN Ferrostaal.
Recruitment of junior staff, vocational training and further development are an important element of the corporate strategy of MAN Ferrostaal. At the headquarter in Essen, where a total of 575 employees are working, 24 young people are at present doing a vocational training, the majority thereof as wholesale and foreign trade clerks. The qualification at MAN Ferrostaal is really worthwhile: In the last year, seven out of 16 apprentices were taken over by the Company as employees, while the others succeeded in finding an employment at renowned companies immediately after their vocational training. For the year 2006, there will be jobs for 27 apprentices, nine trainees, and two graduate students.
The internationality and versatility of the Company require that MAN Ferrostaal increasingly focuses on applicants with university education. Beginners will be encouraged to develop their capabilities and skills, and this in all areas: In engineering and financial concepts, via sales up to logistic planning. According to the Company's slogan of &ldquoTurning Ideas into Reality&rdquo, the employees are challenged right from the beginning. It is important for MAN Ferrostaal to strengthen the potentials of its employees in order to be able to employ later qualified experts being able to independently master intercultural and complex challenges.
At present, MAN Ferrostaal is ready to employ economic engineers and mechanical engineers with additional economic knowledge. In addition, there are also opportunities for graduates of business studies focusing on finances and international management.
