Sales and Service Platform of MAN
Under the management of MAN Ferrostaal, 15 MAN Houses will emerge in the coming 12 months in North and South America, the Near East, the Middle East and South-East Asia.
27.04.2007 -
MAN Ferrostaal is at present building up a sales and service platform for the MAN group - on four levels: With MAN Nutzfahrzeuge the company works as a distribution and service partner, with MAN Diesel there is co-operation for the construction of diesel power stations, and with MAN TURBO joint project treatments stand in the foreground. The co-operation is supplemented by the building up of MAN Houses worldwide in which all parting groups of MAN are represented.
Under the management of MAN Ferrostaal, 15 MAN Houses will emerge in the coming 12 months in North and South America, the Near East, the Middle East and South-East Asia. They strengthen the presence of the MAN group in these quickly growing regions. The houses are supposed to prepare and accompany broad entry to the market. There are such inter-group houses today already in Mexico and Dubai. While the house in Mexico has practically existed as the general agency for all business areas, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge and MAN Ferrostaal 2006 established MAN Middle East FZCO with its seat in Dubai which is to look after 17 countries as the distribution junction. In June 2007, the company will move into its new domicile in a modern building complex. In Beijing also, four MAN companies moved into common rooms in June which then becomes, as a MAN House, the central address for the business of all the MAN companies in China. More houses are emerging at present, in, amongst other places, Tehran, Jakarta, Lima and Bogotá. The concept promises an appropriately strong presentation of the brand and sustained improvement in the market presence of the MAN group.
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge will use the foreign organisation of MAN Ferrostaal in future increasingly to carry out additional business in sales and service. The co-operation refers at present to four partial areas: MAN Ferrostaal is an occasional agent worldwide - with the exception of EU25 and Turkey -, maintains general agencies in Mexico and Indonesia and distributes trolley buses worldwide. The strong worldwide presence of MAN Ferrostaal opens up additional distribution possibilities for MAN Nutzfahrzeuge in over 30 countries. In Mexico, MAN Ferrostaal opened a new commercial vehicle production plant in Querétaro in 2004 and handed it over to the sister group. Complete buses will be assembled there first of all such as the MAN Lions coach and bus chassis. The production will be directed by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge. The distribution and servicing of the vehicles will lie within the responsibility of MAN Ferrostaal. Starting with the existing works in México City, Querétaro, Guadalajara and Monterrey, the company is expanding the distribution and service network on 16 bases throughout the country. Trucks will be imported until further notice as finished products and sold inside the country. By 2010, the company is striving for a sales target of 1000 buses and 1000 lorries per year. In the upper bus segment, MAN already holds a market share of around 35 percent of the new licences for travel bus operators with chassis. MAN is thus the market leader in this segment in Mexico after just two years after the start of production. The markets of other Latin American countries are also to be opened up from Mexico.
The company wishes to open up the bus and truck market of the ASEAN countries together with MAN Nutzfahrzeuge even more intensively with the focal points in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. In Indonesia, MAN Ferrostaal will take over the function of an importer and general agent. For 100 years, MAN Ferrostaal has been represented in the country by its predecessor companies. Just under 200 staff members of the company are employed in offices and workshops in Surabaya, Medan, Bandung and Semarang
Through its co-operation with MAN Diesel, MAN Ferrostaal has become the EPC contractor for large, complex diesel power stations from MAN. In this co-operation, the strengths of MAN Ferrostaal - project development, project management and financing solutions - are combined with the technology, knowledge and the product and market expertise of MAN Diesel. In particular, the strength of MAN Ferrostaal in the growing markets is a valuable asset for the co-operation. A similar inter-group co-operation exists with MAN TURBO in the construction of compressor stations in Central Asia, East Europe and the Middle East. MAN Ferrostaal maintains representations of MAN TURBO in 20 European and Latin American countries.
