SCOT 8000
A tanker sets new safety standards
Greater safety on board – In the past single-hull oil tankers, as their name suggests fitted with an outer hull only, have been repeatedly the cause of environmental catastrophes. The time was ripe for a ship setting new safety standards. As a general contractor we can offer shipping companies wanting to stock up on tailor-madecustomised merchant vessels our services for concept, design, construction, delivery, and financing duringfor construction period. Onboard there is a twin set of all key systems to assure highest possible safety.

It all rests on the hull – The SCOT tanker is builtfitted with a double hull throughout at runs through the bottomase and the sideshell exterior whichand also serves as a "crumple zone”. In the event of a collision, therefore, damage to the cargo and fuel tanks is prevented or at least minimised. The SCOT type hull offers twice the resistance of ships with a single hull.
Two is better than one – The ship is equippedfitted with two sets of the main propulsion systemsall components, e.g. two main engines installed in two completely in addition in physically separated enginemachine rooms, two main switchboardscentral control panels, two propellers, and two rudders. The result is a redundant propulsiondrive and control system ensuring the maximum possible safety – if the one technical component system fails, the second line takes over.
