"There is a real international feel even during the vocational training"
Vanessa Yee Sun Degethof is an apprentice at MAN Ferrostaal - in just over two years she will complete her vocational training in office communications. She has completed her A-levels and is also taking an additional course as a foreign language correspondent - apart from a three-month secondment abroad she has a fixed place on the MAN Ferrostaal vocational training programme. Vanessa Degethof, who lived in the USA for two years after finishing school, is delighted: "The training is perfect preparation for work in an international environment." She adds: "As well as the course content, we also learn key expertise, such as intercultural skills, which will stand us in good stead in our future careers." She would most like to spend her three-month foreign secondment in Mexico, as the country and the culture fascinate her.
Why MAN Ferrostaal?
As well as the international orientation of the company, Vanessa Degethof is most taken with its variety. "You learn all sorts of new things in each department and are constantly gaining new skills in the process. This allows us to find out which areas we are most interested in for ourselves." The apprentices are also full of praise for the structure of the training. "The support and the training which we receive during our apprenticeship are perfect preparation for our future careers."
