The high costs for crude oil, diminishing raw materials, mandatory blending quotas specified by governments - future scenarios already assume that a significant proportion of the energy we will use for transportation and mobility in the future will come from biofuels.

New markets are emerging: in order to satisfy this enormous demand, it will in future be necessary to produce several billion litres of biofuel each year. Traditional markets will be expanded by new future markets - the agricultural sector will become an important player in the energy industry.

In this context great potential is forecast above all for the biofuels of the second generation. In contrast to the first generation, it will be possible to integrate whole plants into the production process for these second-generation biofuels. Energy plants will play an important role.
