MAN House in Kuala Lumpur opened
MAN increases its commitment to Malaysia
26.02.2008 -
The MAN Group is combining its activities in South East Asia and, for this reason, has established a new MAN House in Kuala Lumpur. It was opened today in the presence of 160 guests from the worlds of politics and business. This combined representation for the entire MAN Group will now be developed into the centre of the MAN network in Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta are the first two MAN houses opened in 2008, after four such houses had been opened in 2007 in Mexico, China, Dubai, and Peru. With the help of these MAN Houses, the group is creating a common business platform outside Europe, in order to guarantee clients easier access to MAN products. The concept includes a clear brand image and continuous improvement of the market presence for all parts of the MAN Group.
Under the leadership of MAN Ferrostaal, the MAN Group is strengthening its presence in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. "Our starting point for intensifying business relations with Malaysia is excellent," said Dr. Klaus Lesker, member of the Executive Board of MAN Ferrostaal, at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur. "We have been in Kuala Lumpur for more than 40 years and have successfully represented the MAN Group there. Alongside rapid growth in the Malaysian economy, there is also a need for capital goods and industrial services."
MAN has been present in Malaysia since 1964, when compressors and steam turbines were delivered for the fertilizer industry. Since then, MAN Truck & Bus, MAN Diesel, MAN TURBO and MAN Ferrostaal have entered the Malaysian market and have brought a number of industrial products and services to the country. Among them large diesel engines for ships and for independent power plants - like one in Sabah Sarawak - turbomachinery for the mining, steel and the oil and gas industry as well as a large number of printing and packaging machines. MAN Truck & Bus has a joint venture with MBf Holdings in Berhad. In the future, MAN wants to strengthen its position in Malaysia with industrial plants, particularly in the petrochemical and oil and gas sectors.
